As of October 16, 2020, you can get a copy of your prescription directly from your eyecare prescriber. This allows you to purchase prescription glasses from any provider of your choice. According to the FTC, after you get an eye exam for glasses, your eye care prescriber has to give you a copy of your prescription — whether you ask for it or not. It’s the law. Additionally, you can authorize a seller (the company from whom you are purchasing prescription glasses from) to obtain a physical copy of your prescription from your eye care prescriber for you. If you do, your prescriber has 40 business hours to respond and provide it.
