Zoran applies lens coatings to enhance the durability and performance of your sunglasses.

Coatings “Stacks” Application

Our proprietary coatings are applied to both the front and back of the lens. We call them ”stacks”.
Our proprietary coatings “stacks” are applied in a very specific order to maximize effectiveness.
Each coating has a very specific purpose and we apply 14 coatings to each lens.
Our lens coatings process utilizes high tech equipment and high tech processes (See How Zoran Coatings are Applied).

Types and Purpose of Coatings Applied

Hydrophobic Coating –Rain and sweat roll off.
Anti-Fog Coatings – Lens fogging reduction or elimination.
Oleophobic Coatings – Anti-smudge from skin oils.
Anti-Reflective Coatings – Enables 99.7% of available light reaches your eyes.
Anti-Glare Coatings – Prevents glare from oncoming light sources in the dark.
Anti-Scratch Coatings – A hard coat to minimize scratching.
UVA/UVB – Harmful light protection coatings.

Most commercially popular sport sunglasses in today’s market do not apply additional lens coatings.

The reason for this is:

It is an expensive process requiring very expensive highly technical equipment.
Lens preparation has some exceedingly high tolerances.
Production processes are much slower with limited capacity runs.
The quality of the lens needs to be much higher.

For those cyclists out there: I wear these in all conditions, and I can’t recommend them enough! In humid air or in a hot/cold transition, most glasses fog up–these never have. In twilight, most riders take off their glasses–these are super-clear transition lenses, so I wear them in all light conditions, including racing/riding at night in the woods. When sweating or in heavy rain, my old glasses would collect moisture and obscure my view–these glasses let all moisture roll off, never obstructing my view.
